Roars, Oinks, and Moooooos

It's interesting how kids develop different ideas with the same topic. For this topic, I asked the class to  focus on their preferred animal, but I also wanted them to learn the animal using their various senses--what sound does the animal make; how does the animal smell; is the animal grainy or hairy; and what shapes make up its composition. 

Next, the students thought about animals in the sky, versus those on land, versus those that are subterranean. And they placed these animals on a make-shift stage.

When we came back, we knew exactly what to do...
We also made worms, snakes, a fox for the underground animals.

We also made a presentation board to show and explain about our choice of animal(s) to our parents.

Here we have the final product--a tree that captured the students' senses about animals around us.  Check out the beautiful details:

 

 

This tree will grow continuously with our children.
